I mentioned in a trading thread that I had an idea for a niche website, so here is the beginning of that website. I am not a web site expert by any means, so this will be an experiment and a learning experience for me. On the bright side, you get to watch it all unfold in real-time Smiley. Hopefully the process will be entertaining and informative. Maybe this will inspire you to start one of your own. Maybe you're already an expert and can share with me and the rest of LBC as I go through the process. Maybe you're hoping my venture will fall flat on its face Smiley.

What is a Niche Site?

A niche site is a website dedicated to a narrow field of interest. Generally the goal is to develop a high search engine rank, get a fair amount of traffic, and then convert that to money through ads, product sales, or the like. A good niche site needs to deliver quality content that web surfers are looking for. It's one thing to hit the top page of Google. It's another to stay there. Quality information is what will keep a niche site at the top for a long time.

So on to my idea. As many of you know, I trade in the stock market. More specifically, I trade options. Even more specifically than that, I use strategies that aren't very popular or well-known. One of these is going to be my niche.

And just like that, my idea was born: a website dedicated to the strategy of selling puts.

I chose this for several reasons.

One, I'm an expert. I've been doing this kind of thing for over a decade. I've had my ups and downs, and I have learned a lot along the way. Nowadays, it's pretty effortless on my part.

Two, financial keywords are profitable. With a little keyword research (which I get in post 002), I figure such a niche site could make several hundred dollars per month. Once it's up and running, it will take very little time to maintain. And that's the end goal: income without trading hours of work. Passive income in other words.

And three, competition is weak. Again, I'll go into this in a later post to provide details. I scoped out the top 10 websites that rank for my core keyword, and they aren't terribly strong.

So it's something I'm good at, can make money with, and won't have too much competition. Sounds good, right?

Sounds like you've done a good job of figuring out where your strengths are, and how to leverage them to overcome your weaknesses. Of course, you're a business expert in general, so it wouldn't be too surprising if you were to be successful with your next little project Smiley
