After, I write this business blog, my goal is to post the headline on Twitter in an effort to bring more people to join our LiveBusinessChat.com forums in hopes that more people will come to discuss entrepreneurship and business. I always manage to bring us a few new members when I do such things but I never expect to bring in hundreds or thousands. I know better than that. I have looked at the research on advertising on the Internet and it is very clear to me that this is not the main way websites become popular. Let's take a brief look at the research and the statistics that came from comScore, the Internet researching company who along with Tacoda and Starcom USA are studying the effectiveness of all those tiny ads we see on websites. What they have found is that only 4 percent of all Internet users would be described as "heavy clickers", another 4 percent are "moderate clickers" and another 10 percent are light clickers. The rest of us don't bother clicking. Essentially 8 percent of all Internet users account for 85% of all clicks. So I know that is not how websites really become popular. What really matters most is providing interesting or entertaining content and relying on your customers to tell others about your website. Word of mouth is still the most effective advertising method of all even in the age of the Internet.

LBC is still in development, and hasn't been officially relaunched yet, so it's not a surprise that there's not very much traffic rolling through. However, what our group offers is unique. We have a core team of talented people who are eager to help others succeed in business and finance.

Naturally, we would like to help as many people as we can, but it isn't really about the numbers. If we help 1 person, or a million, we're still doing our part to grease the wheels of prosperity and happiness. With that said, nothing would be more satisfying than seeing a crowd, because that shows they are finding value in what we're offering, so we must be doing something right.

As time goes on, we'll get better at giving people useful resources. You're right about word of mouth. If we do our jobs right, the crowd will find us.

I NEVER click on ads. If I see one that interests me, I usually go directly to the site, and I research the company on search engines first. I just don't trust most of them.
